"Summer is surely flying by, isn't it?" This has to be the most common phrase I've heard this July... and in summers past. Why is it that summer feels so fleeting? That is a question that I'm sitting with myself in this very moment. I'm noticing how it lands in my body, and what I'm sensing in real time is the solidness of my body sitting on the floor. While nothing feels fleeting, I can feel a bubbly energy in my solar plexus, right between my heart and belly button. In the past, I've named this sensation as anxiety, but I have also come to know that, for me, beneath anxiety, there is often a sense of loneliness. This loneliness is not one to feel bad about, or to be ashamed of. Although, my protective mechanism in the past has been to hide this loneliness, after almost a year of working with it, I am now able to recognize it as my yearning for connection and my desire to feel part of something. And when this shows up for me, it is usually a sign that I have been hermitting for long enough, and it is time to come out and play. I need real time alone to think and create, and I need people in my life to actually see what I'm creating. Both are true, and I've stopped trying to pick one. Ok, let's pause for a moment. What you just read is an example of how in real time I dropped into my body with a question, and listened to what was there with curiosity and without judgement, leading me to noticing a yearning. And so now, it is my choice to move in whichever direction I want with this knowing. This is agency. This is how we can cultivate the ability to respond from our centre and knowing, instead of being taken by our automatic reactions. This kind of pausing, on purpose, is exactly what The Pause is built for. The Pause: A somatic practice seriesIn my last email to you, I mentioned a summer series I was building. Something audio, unhurried, yours to come to whenever you had the desire and the space. Well, it is finally ready, and I am so excited to share it with you. Pausing is its own kind of practice, a deliberate turning inward. A moment of choosing yourself before summer slips by. The Pause is a series of six (6) short audio practices, each one around ten minutes. They are somatic, which means they work with your body, not just your mind. Each practice is built around something real. Something people name when asked what they were longing for this summer. Rest. Permission. The feeling of being fully present in a moment before it passes. The quiet voice inside that already knows. The particular energy that is yours and no one else's. And at the very end, a chance to go back and really receive something from this summer before it slips away. A new practice will arrive every Sunday beginning August 9, through mid-September. The Pause is designed for anyone who wants to feel more present in their own life this summer, not by doing more, but by arriving more fully in what is already here. If this feels like something you want this summer, I'd love for you to join in. Investment: $27 for the entire experience (practices and community)!
The first practice arrives August 9. Warmly, Tami P.S. If you know anyone in your life who could also use a pause, share The Pause with them. |

I have been watching spring arrive in the most unhurried, generous way. Everything outside is green and lush. The trees are full. The birds are back and singing their songs at all hours. And our resident groundhog has emerged from his winter burrow and has been slowly, contentedly eating his way through the dandelions. I find myself stopping to watch him more than I probably should. There is something about witnessing nature settle into itself that feels like an invitation to do the same....
This is the story of how Embodying the Seasons came to be. Back in late September 2025, during a weekly chat with a dear friend, they shared how difficult the autumn transition always is for them. More tired than usual, lacking motivation, wanting to do nothing but curl up on the sofa. Then they did something beautiful. They pulled their sweater up over their head and made this gesture of wanting to burrow. I asked them to do it again, to really sense into that movement. And as they did,...
Not all somatic practices are created equal. And before I elaborate on that, let's take a pause and begin with a question: What is somatics? You may have an idea, an inkling, a knowing, but it's hard to put into words. Or you simply don't know, but you are curious, and that is enough. I have been immersed in the world of somatics for years now, and to be completely honest with you, the answer to that question is one that continuously changes and transforms. What I know for sure is that...
